Scientists aboard the exploration vehicle Nautilus went giddy after they noticed a uncommon and undeniably cute deep-sea creature: a dumbo octopus. The deep-sea ROV (remotely operated car) acquired some nice visuals of the distinctive cephalopod, which has “lovely ear-like fins” that resemble Dumbo the animated elephant from the Disney film.

“Oh, there’s the octopus! There it’s!” mentioned one excited scientist as quickly as they noticed it.
“We’ve all been ready for this,” says one other. “That is the second.”
“I’m shaking,” somebody chimes in because the others giggle. “It’s like assembly a celeb.”
“Whereas diving on an Unnamed Seamount West of Babeldaob close to the #PalauNationalMarineSanctuary, #ROVHercules occurred upon this extra-leggy #dumbooctopus (#Cirroteuthis)—a #deepsea #cephalopod recognized for its lovely ear-like fins,” wrote Nautilus Live in an Instagram video sharing the lovely footage.
Watch (and pay attention) and scientists come throughout a deep-sea octopus and may’t conceal their pleasure:
