A lady standing in {a partially} frozen Alaska lake reaches beneath the floor and raises her fingers, citing dozens of skinny ice shards. Luc Mehl and Sarah Mehl Histand shared the video on Instagram, explaining that this phenomenon is named candle ice, a type of rotten ice.
The Histands say they biked alongside the sting of Eklutna Lake in Anchorage searching for a pocket of candle ice close to the shore. After they discovered one, Sarah received in to indicate off the unusual ice formations.
