An enormous household took an enormous likelihood and ignored path closures to hike a South Mountain path in Phoenix, and it didn’t repay. Sadly, the Arizona household of 11, which incorporates a minimum of 5 youngsters, required rescue after a number of relations started exhibiting indicators of heat-related sickness.
“Yesterday, our Technical Rescue Groups responded after a number of youngsters have been affected by warmth associated accidents on South Mountain,” wrote the Phoenix Fire Department in a submit sharing footage from the rescue effort. “Regardless of posted path closures, the group started mountain climbing late within the morning when temps have been already climbing previous 100° [F].”
The fireplace division added that rescuers needed to transport two youngsters, ages 9 and 11, down the mountain on a big-wheel stretcher. Final July, a 10-year-old boy died of heat-related sickness on the identical mountain climbing path.

“This was preventable,” the fireplace division stated, offering the next tricks to hikers:
- If a path is closed, it’s to your security.
- Hike early. Hydrate usually.
- Respect the warmth.
