Brian Medley was recording a seemingly calm second off the coast of Alaska when, instantly, one thing unimaginable began taking place on the opposite facet of the boat. Medley rapidly redirects his digicam and catches a number of large humpback whales on video as they lunge, mouths agape, for meals on the floor of the water. His video went viral, with over 4.4 million views to this point.
“Whereas peacefully watching some humpback whales bubble-net feed off within the distance, these hungry giants determined to provide me a rush of adrenaline!” Medley wrote in his Instagram put up sharing the footage.

He goes on to clarify that bubble-net feeding refers to humpback whales’ cooperative looking technique. “The whales dive deep beneath colleges of fish and use bubbles blown from their blowholes to stun and entice fish nearer to the floor,” Medley says. “The whales [then] swim towards the floor with their mouths open and ‘gulp’ the trapped fish.”
Feedback on the put up share Medley’s pleasure over the surreal second.
“I might move out if i witnessed this in actual life. How fortunate!” wrote one individual.
