Whereas making his manner throughout the Knife Edge on the way in which to Capitol Peak, certainly one of Colorado’s most harmful 14ers, Josiah Jones‘ cellphone fell and have become lodged on the aspect of a jagged, steep cliffside. When Jones realized what had occurred, he decided . . . and it wasn’t the choice I’d have made. He determined to scale the aspect of the Knife Edge and retrieve his cellphone. A digicam mounted on his physique recorded the courageous act, and the video will make you squirm.
Capitol Peak is a summit throughout the Rockies’ Elk Mountains vary. It has a repute for being Colorado’s hardest 14er (a peak that rises no less than 14,000 toes), thanks partially to the Knife Edge—a jagged-rock edge resulting in the summit. And that’s precisely the place Jones’ cellphone dislodged from the place he’d cinched it and took a tumble.

After the cellphone fell, Jones sat there for a second, speaking to his mountain climbing associate. Then he mentioned, “alright,” and swung his leg over the ledge. He retrieved the cellphone with out taking a tumble himself, fortunately. Although the wide-angle lens makes the sting look narrower than it’s in actual life, this stretch of the trek has a repute for a motive.
“My spouse was indignant,” Jones admits in his Instagram submit sharing the footage. “Bonus factors on the knife edge retrieving my cellphone. How on this planet it didn’t go all the way in which down is past me.”
